Composite cladding can be used in a variety of applications, replacing the likes of timber weatherboards, fibre cement, steel, and render. The great advantage of composite timber cladding is that it offers the classic good looks of wood with virtually no maintenance. It’s environmentally friendly, made from recycled and sustainably sourced timber, and lasts for many years in the harshest of conditions.

Key advantages of  composite cladding

  • Termite resistant
  • Moisture resistant
  • Low maintenance
  • Long lasting

Traditional timber weatherboards are prone to weather damage and typically require repainting to eliminate bubbles, fading, and peeling. Exposure to rain, UV rays, and dampness causes warping and rotting, and pests create problems in even the most well-maintained home. Composite cladding is a sustainable alternative that offers the same beautiful appearance but is quick and easy to install and lasts much longer.

Weather resistance and durability

Composite wall cladding is impervious to water absorption and pests like termites. Your composite exterior cladding stands up to all weather conditions, with little maintenance. Some don’t even require painting. That can create a huge cost saving on construction. They’re guaranteed to keep their integrity and appearance for up to 25 years on residential properties, and 10 years for commercial projects.

Aesthetic appeal and versatility

Composite cladding products provide excellent warmth and texture to building projects and complement the natural surroundings with a range of colour shades and designs. They can also create a sheer, modern look that adds dramatic effect to architecture. Hidden fixings allow a seamless finish that enhances the unique colours and textures of the board. These are able to be installed either vertically or horizontally, and delivered made-to-measure, or cut on-site as required.

Composite cladding FAQs

What are the advantages of composite cladding over traditional materials?

Composite cladding offers a much greater range of textures and finishes than traditional weatherboard and other materials. From light wood and earthen tones through to walnuts, silver greys and blacks, composite wall cladding has the perfect finish for any project. Its superior durability and ease of maintenance preserves the visual appeal and longevity of building designs. And composite exterior cladding is much easier to install. It’s lightweight, malleable, and securely locks into place with concealed joins for a smooth, ultra-modern finish.

Is composite cladding environmentally friendly?

Composite cladding products are made from sustainably sourced timbers, recycled wood fibre, and recycled plastics. Weathertex composite wood cladding boasts a better than zero carbon footprint, made from 97% Australian hardwood timbers and 3% wax without the addition of any glues or silica.

Composite timber cladding also offers excellent insulation, reducing the demand on heating and cooling. It’s an aesthetically pleasing, durable, and environmentally friendly building solution that maintains its appearance for many years.

How long does composite cladding last and what maintenance is required?

Depending on the type of board chosen, composite cladding is guaranteed for up to 25 years without the need for painting, sanding, oiling or repairs. Dust and dirt simply brushes off. Weathertex’s 97% PEFC-certified timber board, when primed, offers the same 25 year warranty and only requires repainting every 15 years. Other than that, composite timber cladding will not rot, split or crack like regular timber, even in the harshest conditions. It’s watertight, will not fade, and retains its integrity when regularly inspected for signs of damage.
